The Army Family Team Building Program is a series of 30 classes that are broken down into three levels that focus on Military Knowledge, Personal Growth and Resiliency, and Leadership Development. These classes offer progressive instruction to equip Family members with the skills necessary to navigate through the Army system, understand the military mission and way of life and to successfully access the many resources and services available at the installation. Classes are interactive and are instructed by volunteer instructors and Subject Matter Experts.
Classes include:
- Level K (Level II): 10 courses which provides basic Army knowledge in a non Army tone
- Level G (Level II): 12 courses that focus on leadership skills and interpersonal relationship
Army Family Team Building is a family training and readiness program that will help you understand Army culture and give you the skills and resources you need to become a self-reliant, self-sufficient member of the military community. AFTB will help you adapt to Army life, manage change and embrace challenges. AFTB offers pro-active, forward thinking support for today’s Army families and ensures the strength of tomorrow’s Army.
Military Knowledge
Level K provides basic information and skills needed by all military spouses. Level K teaches military terms, acronyms, customs and courtesies, chain of command, military and community resources, basic benefits and entitlements, expectations and impact of the mission on family life, introduction to family readiness groups, introduction to financial readiness, basic problem solving and support your child’s education.
Personal Growth and Development
Level G is targeted toward emerging leaders within the Army community. Level G focuses on communication, time management, stress management, acknowledging change, exploring personality traits, enhancing personal relationships, team dynamics, personal conflict management, creative problem solving, traditions, customs and courtesies, protocol, coping and grieving, the volunteer experience, family readiness groups and introduction to leadership.
