Register Now!This course is open to the general public. Except for valid DoD ID card holders, all visitors must obtain a background check to receive a visitor pass to enter West Point prior to class. Normal hours of operation are 6 a.m. - 10 p.m. daily. Visitor Center (845) 938-0390.

Learn the basics of handling firearms with the Tronsrue Marksmanship Center's Basic Pistol Course!
Gain confidence needed to safely handle and operate a firearm. Discuss handgun purchasing options. No experience or equipment necessary to participate.
The course consists of classroom discussions of the following areas:
- Basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely.
- Pistol parts and operation
- Ammunition types
- Range rules
The course culminates with live fire on a range. Firearm Rental, Ammo, Ear & Eye Protection Included.
Cancellation Policy
- Cancellation- 7 Days Prior: Full refund minus $5.00 administration fee.
- Rescheduling- 24 Hours Prior: One-time transfer to a new date for a $25.00 fee.
- Late Cancellation/ No Show: No refund or reschedule. All funds are forfeited.
Must be 18 years or older to participate in Firearm Group Instructional Programs.
Only Active Military/Cadets are exempt from age restrictions.
