Tournament Rules

  1. An individual can only have one partner for the tournament and cannot play on more than one team.
  2. Each game will be played to 21 points, or a 20 minute time limit, whichever comes first.
  3. There is a foul line at the front of the boards. When throwing a bag, contestant must be behind the line, and cannot cross it. If they do, the thrown bag will be removed and not counted in the round.
  4. Contestant must throw from the side of the cornhole boards.
  5. To start the game, a coin toss will be used to determine who throws first. The team which wins the coin toss picks who throws first; the losing team picks their sides of the boards. Players alternate throws. After the start of the game, the last team who has scored will throw first in the next round.

Tournament Scoring

One point will be awarded for a bag that rests on a cornhole board without touching the ground.

Three points will be awarded for a bag that lands in the hole of the boards.

If a bag comes into contact with the ground at any time (skips to the board, slides off, or is on the edge and touching the ground), it is zero points

Once the arm has made forward momentum past the hip, the bag thrown will count as a throw. No re-throws will be awarded.

We will be using cancellation scoring. Cornhole bags in the hole and bags on the board by opponents during a round cancel each other out. Only non-canceled bags are counted in the score for the round (for example, Team A has two bags in the hole and one on the board; Team B has two bags in the hole; Team A would be awarded one point).

If a team goes over 21 points, they will return to their score from the previous round (for example: Team A has 19 points, earns 3 points in the round, their score remains 19 and game play continues)

Teams will be responsible for using the score cards provided for keeping track of scores during a game.

Cost

The event itself is free; however, if you want to register for the Cornhole Tournament, it costs $50 per team.
